1:1 Counselling and psychotherapy with Katherine

If you are interested in coming to therapy

You might be considering therapy for all sorts of reasons. You may feel sure that therapy is the next step for you or you might be unsure.

If you are interested in finding out more, the best way to help you to make a decision is to arrange to come and see me for an initial meeting.

This session will give you the opportunity to discuss some of the concerns or difficulties which you are facing at the moment. You will have an opportunity to meet with me, to see if you feel comfortable with me and whether you feel I will be able to help you. I can also consider whether I am suitable to work with you or whether I feel you would benefit from a referral to a colleague.

Outdoor therapy

There is a growing body of research which confirms what most of us already knew instinctively – that being outside and in green and blue spaces is good for heart, mind, body and soul.

I offer the possibility of therapy out of doors – sitting, walking or a mixture of the two in a garden or other green space.

If you are interested in outdoor therapy, we can discuss this at our initial session which can be either indoors or in a private garden space, so we can agree what might be most helpful for you.

Missed sessions and cancellation - renegotiation

I am open to negotiating the length and frequency of appointments (e.g. an hour a week, 1½ hours a fortnight etc.). Once we agree an appointment, I assume we’ll continue at the same time each week/fortnight until we renegotiate or end our work. If your availability varies, for example if you are a shift worker, I will do my best to fit with your work commitments. Wherever possible I require two weeks’ notice for any cancellation, renegotiation or termination of our contract.

Many people come to see me long term and I recognise the need to take holidays etc. So long as I have at least 48 hours’ notice I will not charge for reasonable cancelled appointments; (I consider reasonable to be four weeks in any six month period). Additional fee breaks would be at my discretion according to your individual circumstances.

If I need to cancel our session, I will give you as much notice as I can and, wherever possible, offer you an alternative time. I will, of course, not charge for any sessions which I need to cancel.

Supervision with Katherine

I am a qualified supervisor and offer clinical supervision 1:1 and in groups, for organisations and for individuals.

I believe that supervision is a space to think creatively about clients, to consider the relational dynamics in the therapy through the relationship of supervision. I believe supervision is a space where we can be playful, creative, take risks and, importantly, ensure the safety of both the client and the therapist.

As a supervisor I hold a responsibility to do my best to create a space in which you as supervisee can feel safe to be as open as possible about your work. My aim is to create an opportunity for you to become the best therapist you can be, in ways and directions which will be unique for you.

If you are interested in seeing me for supervision

If you are interested in seeing me for supervision, the best way to help you to make a decision is to arrange to come and see me for an initial session. This session will give you the opportunity to discuss your work and see if you feel we are a right fit.
